Elevated Pantries

ELEVATED PANTRIES

Estimated read Time: 2.5 minutes

Pantries are to food like dryers are to socks. You put food in them, and you never find them again. I don’t know why dryers eat socks, but I can bet that all the missing cans you lost four years ago is due to the lack of organization.

Pantries are the bane of our existence and the object of our every desire: chaos and food. We want to avoid the mess but must rummage through it to find the food we need.

Fret not! Below are four ways to elevate your pantry to a functional, pleasing, and aesthetic extension of your kitchen.

Label EVERYTHING

First, pull everything off of the shelves. Then decide what you need and donate or pitch the rest. Next, alphabetically label a space on a shelf, bin, or item.

Labeling not only looks sophisticated, but it is incredibly functional. Nothing is better than walking into a pantry and knowing exactly where to look or what to find. So take the time, and put effort into labeling and creating a space that works for you.

Storage Bins

Storage bins not only look better, but they are imperative to maximizing space. For example, if you have a shelf that is a foot tall from top to bottom, but you are only utilizing 8 inches of that space with a bottle of olive oil, you need to use that space more.  Buy stackable bins that will allow you to fulfill the provided area with organized efficiency.

Storage bins are both practical and stylish. Find a crate or container that fits your style and aesthetic. If you like sleek and modern, buy clear plastic containers. If you don’t like sleek and contemporary, find rustic bins that bring warmth and hominess to your pantry.

Add Hooks

Hardware is perfect for adding flare and style while providing functional aspects. Hooks are the perfect pantry essential for the parlay things that lay around and clutter drawers. Use the hooks to hang kitchen utensils, pots, pans, cups, oven mitts, and more.

Buy brass, stainless steel, nickel, or vintage hooks to add personality. Focus on color and style and couple them with the organizer bins, and before you know it, you are on the way to a cohesive and stylish pantry.

Make it Unique!
Lastly, add flare to the pantry that makes you want to leave the doors open for all to see. One way to do this would be to paint the shelves. Again, use a fun color that pops yet is cohesive with the kitchen interior. Neutral greens are all the rage now and would be a perfect color to elevate the wooden interior of a kitchen.

If you happen upon some unique wallpaper, use it to layer upon your shelves or on the inside of your drawers for an extra patterned effect. You can even put it on the walls behind each shelf. It will be a fun and vivid surprise for you and anyone else anytime you enter that space.
