From the desk of Lynn- Who Doesn't Love a Good Swivel Chair?

Over half of the chairs on display in our A & M showroom are swivel chairs and we sell a ton of them.  It seems like everyone has found a need for a swivel in some room in their home. And why not? They are stylish, functional and comfortable.

Swivel chairs come in so many shapes from the standard barrel shape to a high back wing chair.  Plus, for additional movement, there are the options that glide or rock, or even recline. That’s a lot of function in one chair!

Our three favorites have to be the Kara chair from Robin Bruce, the Aura chair from Sam Moore and the Cagney chair from Jessica Charles.  Three different styles and when you factor in all the fabric choices, the combinations are endless.

We think the first things to consider with a swivel chair are size and function.  They tend to be a bit deeper than some chairs, so space can be a factor in choosing the best chair.  And we ask questions like: will they be swiveling all the way around between rooms like a hearth room and a kitchen? Or just sitting quietly in a bedroom corner but swiveling towards a TV or window to look outside?  This helps us with a floor plan to make sure there is enough clearance for the chair(s) and also figure out what size table might be needed for a lamp or drinks.

One of our favorite combinations is a set of four swivel chairs around a great cocktail table or ottoman.  What an awesome conversation area!

So, there’s a lot to consider when choosing the perfect swivel chair, especially comfort.  This is a chair that usually gets a lot of use, so it needs to be one of the best-sitting chairs in the house. That’s probably why we have so many in our showroom, it gives everyone a chance to test out the different options, and gives us the opportunity to ask all the questions & help figure out the best selection.
