A design consultation is unique for each client.
In the first meeting, our main designer, Georgia Jones, meets with you in our showroom to get a general idea of the project and spends some time getting to know you.
The second meeting is in your home and usually lasts 1-2 hours. Georgia reviews your space, often takes photos, and discusses the overall design process.
The third meeting is usually in the showroom and involves a presentation of the design plan with access to all our showroom materials and answering of any questions.
Meet Our Team
“If I cannot do great things, I will do small things in a great way.”
The fearless leader of A&M Home Furnishings! Twenty years ago the doors opened as Armoires & More on the opposite side of Overland Park. Being a local business owner for over two decades she has seen a lot of growth within the local community. She realizes it’s a privilege to do business with the local designers and consumers and is thankful for the opportunity on a daily basis.
Lynn grew up in Overland Park, graduated from Shawnee Mission West before moving on to Pittsburg State University where she studied nursing and biology. After graduation she practiced nursing for over fourteen years before making the leap into business for herself.
She enjoys helping her clients, getting the “ahh” or “I love it” feedback when the perfect item is found. “Design is like a puzzle, getting all the pieces to fit is exciting.”
When she is not working, (which is rare) she is spending time with her dogs or family. Lynn also enjoys flea markets, antique shopping, reading, being active in the garden and firmly believes that no one can live without an antique pine armoire in their home.
Guilty Pleasures? Whiskey or hot chocolate, even in the dead of winter!
“I love my work, love my design clients, and enjoy meeting someone new everyday. I feel very fortunate!”
Georgia has been part of the A&M Home Furnishings team for five years. She is from Redondo Beach California, has twin daughters, two grandsons and two grand daughters. Her family keeps her busy for sure! Georgia’s favorite time of year is summer, in the morning she indulges in a simple cup of black coffee, in the evening a healthy glass of chardonnay!
When asked, Georgia can’t pick a specific color she favors, however when she needs inspiration she turns to Maria Killam along with several other blogs that give her industry insights into décor trends and must have pieces.
After a long day at work helping clients reinvent their homes, Georgia enjoys curling up in her favorite piece of furniture with a good book, what is her must have piece? No surprise…. (drum roll please) why it is a large comfy chair! Perfect for coffee, wine, grandkids and rest!
Karen has been part of the A&M team for a little over two years. If you haven’t met her stop in immediately! We call her our own personal ray of sunshine, which works out well since her favorite color is yellow and her favorite season is summer! When she isn’t at work or home with her family she enjoys yoga, walking, running and gardening.
Mary Van Becelaere
Mary Van Becelaere is our newest designer at A&M with over thirty five years’ experience in the interior design business. Mary was the owner of her own store in Littleton, CO and recently moved back to Kansas City to be closer to her family, especially her grandchildren. We are excited to welcome her to our team! When asked why she loves interior design Mary says, “It’s my passion. Looking at a room or a space and transforming it into a welcoming place is so much fun. I enjoy making things beautiful!”
Mary is inspired by many aspects of the design industry. A favorite designer she enjoys is Sarah Richardson, a Canadian designer who has a crisp fresh look to her design style. Black is a favorite accent color of Mary’s, using it often in her creations. When asked her overall favorite color she shares “the many versions of jade”.
While Mary is still adjusting being back in Kansas City, she believes that she will soon be settled and ready to work on a new “fix & flip”, another one of her pastimes affiliated with design.
Mary is “very pleased to be at A&M” and we are very pleased to have her. Welcome Mary!
